We have just introduced an improvement to the home page to allow sharing and renaming your boards. As we saw that more of you are now navigating between multiple boards, this will hopefully make that easier. Additionally you can now export your boards into PDFs or PNGs.
In addition to the home page improvements, we have also just enabled zooming capability for images on public boards.
β
Export your board into PDFs or PNGs when you prefer to save the board as a static file. If you have any GIFs on your board, we recommend sharing as a public link instead.
We have also squashed a few bugs:
β
We have just introduced a new way of sharing your board via a public link. This means that the person receiving the link can view your board without needing to sign up for a Make the Dot account.
This week we have introduced a new way to preview and download images on Make the Dot - offering more flexibility when you're doing your research. In additional to that, there are new ways to download images - be it a single image or multiple images.
β
Now when you open up any of the images on your board, in additional to having the side panel that provides description, source link as well as comments, you will also find an image preview where you see the large version of the image that you've selected. You can easily zoom into the image to get a full-page view to see all the details or scroll through the thumbnails preview below to navigate to other images on the board.
β
When you invite a collaborator to the board, perhaps they're part of the photography team or marketing intern in charge of your social media, they might need to download the images from the board to create other assets. In this scenario, they can either download a single image directly from the image preview panel or select multiple images from the board and download all of them at once.
We've just introduced a range of improvements to the Chrome extension based on the initial feedback that we got from some of you.
New things that you'll see in the latest version:
β
During days when you're not actively researching, you can choose to hide the "save" button on webpages. If you see an image you like, you can still right-click on the image to save it.
Other than that, you can easily navigate to your home dashboard from the settings tab, provide feedback or read user articles from our help center.
The source url link that you find in the image side panel is now bringing you to the specific webpage where you saved the image
β
When you're saving images from our browser extension, all the images would now show up in automatically in all the browser tabs that are open without needing to refresh them.

Save to Make the Dot is a browser extension that you can download for the Chrome browser. It helps speed up your research when you're looking for inspirations and references on the internet.

New options are now available in the action header when you select images - "Copy to Board" and "Move to Board" options allow you to organize your content across different boards.
We have added the time stamp for every card in the side panel as well as the source URL link if you saved the image via the browser extension. Clicking on the image will give you a full-screen view of the image from the original website.
We know how much you value your time so the fewer clicks the better! We're gradually changing to autosave by default, starting with texts!
Save a text card by clicking outside of the text editing area
Save your board name by hitting "Enter" on your keyboard or clicking outside of the editing area
Save the card description by hitting "Enter" on your keyboard or clicking outside of the editing area.

Turn on the eyedropper from the toolbar and start picking colors from any of the images on your board. When you're done building your palette, just press ESC (escape) on your keyboard to switch it off.
As we noticed many of you tried to apply the font style without highlighting the text, we have now auto-applied the font style to the whole set of text. Keyboard shortcuts for bold (command + b), italic (command + i) and underline (command + u) would work the same way.
Now as you resize your browser or switch between different monitors or devices, the cards within your board would be automatically scaled to fit the browser, while retaining the overall layout.

This week we have introduced the ability to resize any image, text or color on your board - helping you emphasize your key concept easily. On top of that, we are now helping you translate hex / RGB colors to the closest Pantone colors and you can edit any of your colors with ease.
β
Only have an HEX or RGB code on hand but need to communicate using the Pantone code? Now we automatically help you translate it to the closest Pantone hues for you to choose from.
Clicking on the pencil icon on the color card now allows you to adjust your color hues.
When you go to your Home Dashboard, you can now see a small preview of what's been added on each board. When you hover on it, you can also see details about which owner it belongs to and the last update date and time, making it easier to manage multiple boards.

This week we have introduced the ability to create as many boards as you'd like in Make the Dot! π Β (and obviously to remove them in case you no longer want them in your home dashboard). On top of that, we have also improved the way your collaborators can discover your comments.
β
As soon as you leave your first comment, we'll turn on Show Comments to let you know which cards have comments at a glance - this way when you invite a Reviewer to your board to collaborate, there's less of a learning curve for them to leave you feedback!
β
β
This week we have made it more flexible for you to edit your board while checking comments. We have also improved the overall usability on tablets, helping you do your research on the go.
β
No more switching back and forth between moodboarding and checking comments - simply switch on Show Comments on the Toolbar and you can do both at the same time!
After switching on Select Mode, you can select a card by simply tapping on it. Now it's easier to select and then group cards on iPads.
When you are on the Details Panel of an image, you can now click this little edit icon next to Image Description to add your own notes.
Similarly, you can edit the name of a color through the Details Panelβ. Try giving it a more colorful name!
β
β
β
This week we have improved how you can easily see more context such as photo captions and color codes. We have also made improvements on the overall experience of the app based on our observations during the onboarding call with you.
β
β
Now when you click on any card on the board, we'll bring up a side panel with the details of the card and the comment thread.
β
We added a little edit icon on the text card. Now it's easier to edit text across desktops and iPads.
